We held two meetings for footpath volunteers again in 2024. Both were held in Lenham Community Centre and as usual were attended not only by our volunteers but also by staff from the Kent County Council public rights of way team. Additionally this year we were really pleased to be joined by staff from both Medway and Bromley public rights of way sections.

Topics have included:

- Reporting path faults
- Working with parishes
- Donation of gates
- Diversion of obstructed paths
- Extinguishment of paths in use but not on definitive map
- "Right to apply" -- a new right being introduced for landowners to apply for diversions and enclosures
- Path maintenance: obligations and approach of highway authority
- Distribution of Local Footpath Office work across Kent -- results of new mapping work
- Solar farms and other development/planning issues
- Signage for promoted walks
- Parish footpath maps

The meetings are open to anyone interested in footpath matters. If you are not currently a footpath volunteer and would like to be notified of future meetings (the next is on 23 June 2025), please email us at prow@kentramblers.org.uk.
