The Group's first walk was 10 miles led by Peter Royall from the Chequers pub in Loose on Sunday 23rd March 1980.
My first walk with the group was a 16 mile linear walk led by John Hill from Tonbridge Railway station along the river Medway back to Maidstone on Sunday 15th June 1980.
At the beginning there was one walk on most Sundays, with the occasional Saturday walk. Then as the numbers increased it evolved to two walks on a Sunday and there was often a long and short walk. The group has continued to grow and evolve over the decades, adapting to changing times while maintaining the spirit of fellowship and love of the Kent countryside that has defined it since 1980.
