4. LONDON LOOP - Coombe Lane to Coulsdon South Station

This walk is a fine path through South London and Surrey and unexpectedly through woods and fields rather than housing estates.

The walk starts from the Coombe Lane tram stop between Coombe Lane and the tram lines until it meets with Coombe Lane at some traffic lights.  We cross the road here and follow the LOOP signs taking us through Bramley Bank until it joins the Vanguard Way at Addington Road.  Turning left for a short while, the LOOP sign  points accross the road to a path that manages to take us through most of Forestdale but avoiding the streets.  Continuing through Selsdon Wood, still sharing the Vanguard Way, we also join the Tandridge Border Path until we reach the Old Farleigh Road, where we finally part company with the Vanguard Way.

A short walk down the road takes us to Elm Farm, where we cross the road and pass into the countryside again, climbing Mossyhill Shaw, passing Kingswood Lodge to join Kingswood Lane and Hamsey Green.  Continuing in the same direction, we climb up Tithepit Shaw Lane to pass back into the countryside at Dipsley's Shaw, where we finally part company with the Tandridge Boarder Path.

Crossing the A22, we continue up the path to Kenley Common, where we stop for lunch (7.5 miles from start).  After lunch we cross the common and make our way to Old Coulsdon, Coulsdon Common and Happy Valley. Then it's down hill, along an open path with some fine vistas to Coulsdon South station, where the route ends.
