Dover (Big Birthday) Walk

A few days after a milestone birthday for the walk leader (yes there is a nought on the end), so to help celebrate with him, he will lead you on his favourite county walk, along the iconic White Cliffs from Dover to Deal.

However this is a linear walk from Dover Priory Station, so hopefully there won't be a strike on! The stunning route heads from the station to the official start & finish of the North Downs Way on the seafront, before we start a steep ascent along Dame Vera Lynn Way, all in the shadow of Dover Castle. We pass through the White Cliffs Visitor Centre at Langdon Cliffs, where there are toilets if needed, before we head along the cliff-top path. Our route continues past South Foreland Lighthouse, where there are toilets, and we will also probably take a snack break at this point.

Then on reaching St Margaret's Bay, a pub stop is likely at the popular Coastguard pub. The route then continues through Kingsdown, before dropping down to Walmer and eventually back to Deal Station. There are further pub opportunities, at either The Rising Sun or the Zetland Arms, if the Coastguard was busy, once on sea level at Kingsdown.
