Dover to Folkestone Historical Linear Walk - (KCIIIECP celebration walk)
The walk starts from outside Dover Priory Train Station. This walk will be mainly along the King Charles III Coast Path, but there will be several stops along the way for anyone interested in history. As we leave Dover, we will visit the remains of a Knights Templar Church and the Napoleonic Drop Redoubt at Western Heights. For those with strong enough knees, there will also be the option to climb the 400 steps up/down the Grand Shaft staircase built into the white cliffs. A unique triple helix staircase built around 1809. One of our last stops, as we head towards Folkestone, will be at the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne. As we enter Folkestone, we will take a detour to Folkestone Harbour Arm for refreshments, before heading back to Folkestone Central.
