Elham

Elham

Meet in The Square, Elham, opposite the Kings Head pub. There is some parking in The Square – or park considerately on nearby roads.

We’ll first climb out of the Elham Valley and cross undulating Down land to reach Acrise.  From here we’ll head south along a recently newly designated Public Right of Way towards Redsole Farm and on to Elvington Lane which will take us to Crete Road, on the crest of the Downs overlooking Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel terminal.  If the weather is suitable, we’ll have a picnic stop here – so bring food and plenty to drink.

We’ll then follow the North Downs Way for about a mile before heading north to Paddlesworth where we may be able to have a drink at The Cat and Custard Pot pub (which doesn’t serve food).

Our return to Elham will be along a Bridleway across the Downs to Acrise Court and Great Shuttlesfield Farm before descending to the Elham Valley once more and following the Elham Valley Way northwards back to Elham.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome – but there may be stiles along the way which are not dog-friendly and we are likely to encounter livestock in a number of places.

Estimated return time is 15.30 to 16.00.
