Jane's crazy putt up or shut up Hastings adventure

A seven mile circular up and down coastal walk through the Fairlight country park to Hastings. Although it's only 7 miles the ascents and descents make it feel longer, so you will get a good workout. The park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation for its ancient gill woodland and heathland, with sandstone quarries and fossil rich sandstone cliffs. Lots of lovely sea views along the way as we wind our way through the glens and firehills. When we reach Hastings there will be a long (2 to 3 hour) stop for lunch and a round of crazy golf. Hastings is home to the world championships so it's got to be done. Take your pick from three courses and watch the Lacey Ann and Sally Jo blow their cannons whilst playing pirate golf. (fancy dress optional). Those who putt the lucky shot after the 18th hole win.......drum roll.........a ticket for a free game of golf! Those who don't are insulted by a talking tree. Fish n chips at the golf food court and icecream at Di Polas highly recommended. If you are a bit stuffed after that you'll be glad to know that we walk back to Fairlight inland via the flatter, less strenuous route. It's the Hastings Old Town Carnival Week so plenty of extra fun to be had whether you are a land lubber or a salty sea dog.
