'The Last Village' history walk around Bexley village

This walk explores how Bexley village, "virtually the last village on the edge of London"  has developed over the last thousand years. We should be able to get an idea of how the village looked in Saxon and Medieval times.

Starting at Bexley station the walk takes in Bexley village High Street, looking at points of interest including St Mary's  ( originally 12th century )church ,and the Manor House. We then take a footpath away from the  busy road , beside Churchfield wood , and reach beautiful Medieval Hall Place  and its gardens, before returning to the station.

A small portion of the walk is by the busy A2 , other parts could be muddy.

We will have a refreshment stop in Bexley village where there are shops and pubs, and Hall Place also has a cafe.
