North Downs Loop from Meopham

We will head south from Meopham Green passing through fields and woodland to link up with the Wealdway. Leaving Whitehorse Wood, we descend the scarp slope to Coldrum Longbarrow, a 6,000 year old burial chamber. We make our way across to Trottiscliffe, where the parish church features a pulpit originally from Westminster Abbey and the grave of the artist Graham Sutherland. We climb up through Trosley Country Park, passing Fairseat until we reach our lunch stop at the pretty village of Stansted. We pass the striking war memorial as we begin our return journey. We continue through Hodsoll Street and on through open pasture with grazing horses, then skirt Elbow Wood to return to Meopham.
