Paul L's Lamberhurst Loop
The walk heads in an anticlockwise loop around Lamberhurst and offers a distant sight of Bayham Abbey ruins, and fine views of ancient and modern Scotney Castles, Finchcocks Manor House. The walk is moderate but the lower ground around the River Teise can get very muddy and there is a steep (but not too long) climb through the woods from Scotney up towards Riseden.
There won't be a formal picnic stop, but we will pause for drinks/snacks en route. There are two pubs/restaurants within yards of the end of the route - The Chequers and The George and Dragon - either of which might be a good place for a post walk drink/lunch.
We'll meet in front of the Memorial Hall in the village centre. There is a small car park at the rear but normally plenty of on street parking in the village. There are public toilets at the rear of the Memorial Hall.
