Platt to Ightham Warren and Basted

This walk starts from the village of St Mary's Platt and meanders through woodland, farmland, apple orchards and quiet lanes with valley views to the hamlets of Claygate Cross and Basted. Look out for the roadside library and seed swap at Claygate Cross.

Water features at three points on the walk: the stream on leaving Windfield Lane, the lake at Warren Farm and the millpond where the River Bourne passes through Basted. The return to Platt takes in the village recreation ground and allotments, with Platt Church as our landmark.

The route is undulating and there are short sections which are quite steep. There are two stiles. Walking pole recommended; essential if muddy. If it is very wet under foot, we will lengthen the walk slightly (taking quiet roads) to avoid a muddy uphill bridleway.
