This is an experimental page to demonstrate the effect of loading ESRI shape file and how it is transformed into GPX data. The maps below shows public rights of ways as extracted from a Dataset containing the public rights of way of Kent - pretty much a random find - you almost certainly have better data! The whole zip file e.g. prows.zip can be uploaded to this page and it is processed into separate gpx files and is automatically added to the map as layers that can be shown/hidden. If you go into site edit mode. you can see 4 layers as follows:
It's important to note that this data can be cleared and replaced by different data and then it will use that instead so it's totally configurable.
It's a bit buggy at the moment (I only just coded it in one session) but if you uncheck and recheck prows-Public Footpath,it will show just the paths in this viewable area. If you zoom out / drag the map, it will progressively show more paths. If you click on a path it will show you what it's called. If you enter a place name in the UK postcode or address text box, it will do a place name lookup and then jump to this location and show you the maps there. That's about it for the moment!
