It is \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\ta post mill - the whole building rotates on a post \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tembedded in a brick roundhouse to achieve optimal \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\torientation with the wind. The mill was last used around \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t1885 and restored in 1956.\n\n### Strawberry Wood\n\n![](https://www.kentramblers.org.uk/KentWalks/public/images/P125b.jpg)\n\nIn the wood your route crosses an old stone culvert.  \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThis has recently been restored but its age remains a \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tmystery.  It was certainly built to allow heavy \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tloads to cross, which could suggest a connection with \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Wealden iron industry in Tudor and early Stuart \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\ttimes (see Kent Ramblers Annual Review 2013 for more \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tdetails).
