It is noted for its wildlife, \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tparticularly slow worms and common lizards. The park is \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tvery popular with dog owners, which some visitors find \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\toff-putting.  The mature parkland was once the \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tgrounds of Camer House, formerly the home of the \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tSmith-Masters family built in the 17th and 18th \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcenturies and now Grade II listed. The estate was sold \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tto Strood Council in 1967 and later transferred to Kent \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCounty Council but the house was retained in private \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\townership and is now divided into several dwellings.\n\n### Luddesdown Church\n\n![](https://www.kentramblers.org.uk/KentWalks/public/images/P182b.jpg)\n\nMuch of the church was 14th century or earlier until \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe nave roof collapsed in 1865.  The church was \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\trebuilt and decorated with wall paintings which remain \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tits outstanding feature.  Unfortunately it is \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tdifficult to find a time when the church is open other \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthan for services and specific events.\n\n### The Wealdway\n\nFrom the lodge at the edge of Camer Park all the way \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tto Great Buckland Farm, this walk follows the\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t[Wealdway](https://kent.ngx-ramblers.org.uk/walks/routes/long-distance-paths/wealdway), an 82 mile \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\twalk from Gravesend to Eastbourne across some of our \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tfinest countryside.\n\n### Public Transport\n\nThe most northerly point of the walk is just 300 \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tmetres from Sole Street station.
