The name is said to \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tderive from the Latin word 'pratum' meaning 'meadow'.\n\n### Halstead Place\n\nOnce the home of the Atkins family and later \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tdemolished.  Until the early 2000s the remaining \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tbuildings and additional modern blocks were used as a \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\tresidential and day school.
