Sutton Valence walk
This is a walk of around 11.5 miles, starting from Sutton Valence castle, which explores an area, below as well as along the Greensand ridge.
Commencing from the castle ruins, which we last visited on a group walk, starting from Ulcombe church in February 2024. We set forth in an easterly direction, along footpaths, tracks, fruit farms and fields, towards the aforementioned Ulcombe and onward to Grafty Green. We will however arrive too early for a pit stop at the King's Head, but don't panic, as there are pubs to choose from at the end of the walk. A couple of short but steepish uphill climbs, lead us uphill to Boughton Malherbe church.
On arrival at the 13th-century church, we will stop for our usual short picnic lunch for 20 minutes or so, before the second half of the walk. The return leg, along the Greensand Way, offers lovely views across the Weald, through Liverton Street, past Ulcombe church and close to The Ridge Golf Club, en route back to Sutton Valence.
On arrival at Sutton Valence, there is a choice of either the King's Head or the Queen's Head for the obligatory post walk socialising.
Sorry no dogs please on this one.
